Apple picking, pumpkin carving, trick or treating, holiday shopping. The list goes on. As the weather gets colder and the leaves change color, many people find themselves bonding over different activities and experiences as the fall season progresses.
Connecticut and many other states in New England have different fall specialties and activities to do to celebrate the season as it passes through.
For example, at Lyman Orchards customers can pick their own fruits, take home handmade pies, and attend different annual fruit festivals. There is also a Wizard of Oz themed corn maze that began on September 2 this fall.
The Lyman Orchards official website, lymanorchards.com, states, “One dollar of each maze admission will be donated to support the American Cancer Society. Since 2000, the Corn Maze has raised more than $730,000 for the organization. In addition, $.50 of each admission fee will be donated to the Connecticut Cancer Foundation, which has received $54,287 from the Corn Maze since 2020.”
Not only will the corn maze provide a fun-filled time for families this fall, it will also contribute to a very charitable cause for the American Cancer Society and the Connecticut Career Foundation.
At Foran, there are many people who enjoy fall and establish their own traditions to celebrate the season.
English teacher Mrs. DePalma-Ames got married over this summer. She and her husband have established different traditions and ways to celebrate fall over their time together.
DePalma-Ames says, “… We go to the Boston Harbor and walk the harbor area and the city. There’s this Italian restaurant we go to and we walk the harbor of Boston. Nothing majorly exciting. I would hope to get Salem as something we do every year.”
DePalma-Ames expresses that she used to hate fall as a child because she viewed it as summer coming to an end. As she grew up, however, she realized that she’s grown an appreciation for fall as she experiences more of the season.
There are many different experiences that can change the perspective on fall. For example, Halloween is a very big holiday of the season.
Legends of Fear, a haunted hayride and trail in Shelton, offers a fun and scary Halloween experience for people. Their attractions include Haunted Hayride and the Hallow Trail.
The Legends of Fear Hallow Trail includes the Melon Head Revenge Trail, the Hemlock Manor Mortuary, Pine Hills Parish, the Dark Harvest, and the Funhouse of Fear. More information is detailed on their website, legendsoffear.com.
