While the Dunkin’ versus Starbucks debate is still on the rise, both coffee chains have brought back popular menu items while also releasing new ones for the season.
On November 1, Dunkin’ kicked off the holiday season welcoming back their fan favorite holiday menu with new food and drinks for customers to try.
Between Cookie Butter, Toasted White Chocolate, Spiced Cookie, and Peppermint Mocha, there are countless flavors incorporated into coffees, cold brews, hot chocolate, and lattes for customers to try until the new year.
Junior Luke Hackett is going into his seventh month working as a Dunkin’ employee.
He says, “During the holiday season we are definitely a lot busier with more people coming in to get the seasonal drinks but it’s a great way to get into the holiday spirit.”
When it comes to the Dunkin’ versus Starbucks debate Foran’s Spanish teacher, Señora Brittany Buchanan is always in favor of Dunkin’.
Buchanan states, “I prefer the taste of the coffee, it’s cheaper, and quicker! My favorite holiday drink is the white chocolate iced coffee.”
Although Buchanan prefers Dunkin’ not everyone would agree. Between the release of Starbucks holiday menu on November 2 and their Red Cup Day on November 16, they have been drawing in many customers similar to Dunkin’.
Starbucks Red Cup Day occurs annually each November, typically the third Thursday of the month, as a way to welcome the holiday season. Customers who come in and order a handcrafted holiday beverage will receive a free reusable cup while supplies last on that day.
Senior Ellen Pan has been a Starbucks employee since July. She says, “Everyone is always so excited for the holiday drinks. It’s very popular among customers every day. Starbucks also has their holiday cups during this season which makes the work setting more colorful and exciting.”
With a wide range of options, some of the favorites from Starbucks holiday menu this year include the Caramel Brulée Latte, Gingerbread Oat Milk Chai, and Sugar Cookie Almond Milk Latte.
Senior Isabella Sanchez is a frequent Starbucks customer during all times of the year. “I go to Starbucks at least three times a week. Normally I get an iced peach green tea lemonade but during the holiday season I love getting the iced caramel brulée latte. It is sweet and sugary and barely tastes like coffee.”
Whether going to Dunkin’ or Starbucks there’s a holiday drink for everyone to enjoy before the season is over.
