Building connections, being a shoulder to lean on, and creating a sense of security for students are all goals that our new SRO (School Resource Officer), Micaela Kreitman has for her time at Foran.
From a young age Officer Kreitman has wanted to be involved with police activity. Before becoming a police officer she was a trainer and enjoyed working with her younger clientele, because she felt that watching them succeed and grow was rewarding.
Officer Kreitman states, “Why people do what they do, draws me to this.”
Officer Kreitman has always been more intrigued with the physiological aspect of crime and how the brain functions. She has been curious about what goes on around her and how she can help her community.
Before her new position at Foran, she was active in her community, patrolling for three and a half years and subbing as an SRO for a year and a half. During her patrolling, she learned many skills, including how to read and understand people. Subbing helped open her eyes to the possibilities of her new position.
“ I want to be there for students no matter what they’re going through, good or bad,” Officer Kreitman states.
In her new position, Officer Kreitman hopes to be there for all her students as a shoulder to lean on. She also wants to be someone that students can look up to and feel safe around. Officer Kreitman also expressed how she wants to be visible to all her fellow staff members and students.
Outside of the job, Officer Kreitman has many other passions and hobbies. One thing that she has always loved is animals; she has a golden retriever named Nelly at home. Another thing she loves to do is stay active, whether that is going on a walk or hike with her dog or going to the gym. One value she has is spending time with her family. She enjoys all the time she gets to see them because they mean so much to her.
Officer Kreitman states, “I’m really looking forward to being here.”
Officer Kreitman is excited to take on her new leadership role at Foran and make a difference in students’ lives.
