What was life like growing up?
“I actually grew up here in Milford. I graduated from Jonathan Law High School where athletics were a big part of my life. Growing up I played soccer, basketball, baseball and ran track. I’d say that helped shape who I am today. I went to St. Marys, so when I got to Law I did not know a lot of people and I actually met a lot of people through sports and extracurricular activities so that is now something that I like seeing our students do as well.”
What prior jobs did you have before becoming the dean of students?
“The first job I ever had was working with a friend’s dad in high school. He was a contractor so I helped with jobs like painting, home repair, and remodeling and I was able to learn how to do house projects that way. In high school, I also worked at Bella Napoli delivering pizzas. While working here at Foran as the Dean of Students I also work at Gateway and Quinnipiac teaching math classes at night. I also teach summer school here in Milford as well.”
What made you want to become the Dean of Students?
“Initially I wanted to be a math teacher and I did teach math for nine years. When the job for Dean of Students opened up I was interested in getting into a different kind of career path, a different challenge. In the classroom I had my set of students that I had every year but in a job like this I can talk to and meet a lot of different people, including a lot of different students and administration.”
What would a perfect day off of school look like for you?
“For me, the perfect day would be getting up at a reasonable time, maybe not as early as a school day. Then I would maybe want to get in a quick workout, hang out with my kids, Zach and Walker and my wife, and go out to breakfast. During the day we like to go on day trips whether it’s going on a hike somewhere or in the summertime going to Lake Compounce or Quassy. Sometimes it’s nice to even just go to a relative or friend’s house.”
What goals do you have for yourself in the future?
“I’d like to continue doing what I’m doing. I’d like to help to create a positive culture here at Foran for both the students and the staff. I would also like to see my kids grow up and be successful and have good experiences in school and through life and hopefully see good things happening to those around me.”
