The Foran volleyball team prides itself on the strong bonds between its players.
Senior Hailey Cahill says, “[My favorite part of the team is] definitely the friendships I have made, I love everyone on the team,” Being a part of a team means creating a healthy and supportive environment.
Foran’s volleyball team has been working really hard this season to perform well, Cahill adds, “We are performing a lot better because our team is a lot stronger, last year we were not as close but this year we have more of a bond.”
Communication is key when on a sports team, but meeting individual goals is important as well. Keeping the team motivated is also a big role so the girls can perform well and play strong.
Forans record so far for this season is 13-2. The team’s chemistry is a significant factor in keeping this record.
The team has wins against Shelton, Branford, Bethel, West Haven, Hamden, Jonathan Law, Wilbur Cross, and Hillhouse. Getting together as a team before a game is an important way to bond and prepare.
Sophomore Maddie Deldin says, “One of my favorite parts of being on the team is hanging out with my team and pasta parties.” This was a common response for all the others interviewed as well.
Having a record of 13-2 comes with a lot of practice. Sophomore Ella DiNatale shares a typical practice routine.
Ella explains, “First we start warming up our arms, we pepper, have hitting lines, serve and play six on six.”
Having fun while on the court is the way the girls win each set. Everyone makes sure that they are enjoying playing while also being good competitors to the opposing team.
Throughout the whole season players have learned valuable lessons about resilience, teamwork, and the importance of sportsmanship. The support from friends and the community has been helping and fueling the drive to succeed in each and every game.
As they continue their journey, the Foran volleyball team is not only determined to keep the record going but to also inspire other teams and the community with every match they play.
