Powderpuff, the yearly event that happens during the week of the Foran vs. Law football game, attracts a wide-ranging audience from students, parents, and faculty members.
The game uses a flag football spin on the game, requiring players to wear flags instead of tackling one another. There are 11 players on the field for each team at once and they play two 20-minute halves of football.
Assistant coach Abbigail Blanchard states, “Powderpuff gives the opportunity to all juniors and seniors the chance to represent Foran while participating in a fun and competitive event.”
The range of the players’ athletic backgrounds varies from varsity stars to girls without any prior sports knowledge.
Players will learn different concepts, rules, and plays in the short span of a month.
First-year Athletic Director Jeffery Raucci was asked about how Powderpuff impacts the players. He says, “A lot of our female student-athletes look back on this event as one of the most fun Powderpuffs they had in high school and I would love to keep it that way.”
The rivalry between Foran and Law is very intense throughout all high school sports in Milford, and Powderpuff is nothing short of that.
“I think Powderpuff adds so much to Thanksgiving week. With a froshmore football game being Monday night and the Thanksgiving day game being Thursday morning, this sits in the middle of both and just adds to the competitive aspect of the Foran Law rivalry, which I love,” says Raucci.
The Lady Lions last win was a 7-0 victory back in 2022.
After a loss last year, 35-7, the Lions look to get revenge against the Lawmen and win this year.
The game will take place on November 26, at 6pm hosted on the Foran football field, and costs $5 dollars a ticket.
