Athletes are gearing up for a competitive start to their season. From running, wrestling, or vaulting, Foran students are ready to take on their opponents at different schools.
Swimming:
After-school, the Milford boys combined swim team, including Foran, Law, and Platt students, can be found hard at work down at the pool. They’ve been preparing for months, getting into shape and setting sights on tough school records. Samuel Le states that he’s feeling “very optimistic about this season” and that he believes there will be some big improvements seen in comparison to last year.
Indoor Track:
Down at the track, the Indoor Track team is perfecting their hands off and throws. McKenna D’Agostino, a sprinter and pole vaulter for the team, says that she’s “very excited to compete and get back into the season with a fresh start.” With meets every week, the team is ready to get back into action and break school records.
Gymnastics:
High on the balance beams and leaping off the vaults, the Gymnastics team has been striving for perfection. With a small team this year, the girls are competing in eight meets this year, facing teams such as cross-town rival Law, Daniel Hand, and Hamden. They are set to compete in the SCC on February 6.
Wrestling:
The team has their first scrimmage of the year on January 4, facing off against Law in their Law Duals meet. They expect to come out on top this season, led by a strong team of seniors and juniors. The wrestling team has 12 meets remaining in their season.
Basketball:
Both the girls and boys are set for an exciting season this year, with their schedule filled with their annual Holiday Classic, and many late night games. Looking forward, the girls go up against Wilbur Cross on January 9, and the boys face off against Shelton on January 10.
Fencing:
As the club gears up, their numbers have seen major growth this year, with 12 students participating from both high schools. Their next scrimmage is against Staples High School on January 16. Emily Moore, the team manager, says that she’s, “very excited about the season!” With new people incoming, the squads have been filling up “nicely” and are ready for tournaments and scrimmages.
