With a history of great athletics within the Foran community, this year’s wrestling team plans to keep the momentum going by continuing to put in hard work, perseverance, and dedication in order to have a successful season.
The wrestlers are committed to building on past achievements while setting new goals to push themselves even further. With a focus on teamwork and individual growth, they aim to leave a lasting legacy for future generations of Foran athletes.
Wrestling is known as one of the most physically demanding sports, with wrestlers having to use all of their body and keep good stamina and strength.
The wrestling team practices every day by doing workouts like running through the pool hall, learning new moves and drills (techniques), and live wrestling to end the practice.
These workouts most definitely do not come easy, as members of the team constantly put their all into effective training and strategy in order to attain overall success and satisfaction which is difficult to achieve.
Junior Shane Trevethan states, “The sport is very difficult because during practices, we are constantly working, tiring us down to help prepare us for matches which are challenging physically and mentally.”
However, this isn’t all the team has to offer. In addition to a hardworking and dedicated group of people, the wrestling team helps the Rotary Club with the annual lobster bake and helping out with Camp Happiness, displaying the true character of this inspiring team.
Wrestling also includes many benefits, such as critical thinking skills and stress management, which help build resilience.
On top of inspiring the community around them, the members of the wrestling team inspire each other, pushing one another to grow in skill which ultimately fosters the spirit of the team in a unique way. The team comes together with excellence and a constant drive to win and improve their unity with each other.
In addition to before, during, and after practices, the team spends true quality time with each other which prompts the team to bond into a family-like group rather than just a team.
Junior Thomas Mahon says, “Once you have wrestled everything else in life is easy.”
This speaks to the impact that wrestling can have on one’s mindset or lifestyle.
