While spending six hours a day at school, students tend to find themselves needing certain essentials daily. These specific items range from lip gloss and scented hand lotion to fidget toys to keep them focused on the task at hand.
From first-aid kits, umbrellas, snacks, and reusable water bottles such as some popular brands like Stanley or Owala, these are extremely important products to carry in school for students who know the value of staying fueled on the go.
Senior Avery Izzo tends to have lots of school-related items in her backpack. Specifically, Izzo states, “I make sure I have my colored coordinated folders for each subject of mine, mechanical pencils, rainbow gel pens, flashcards to study for my upcoming tests, and some needed erasers.”
While these are all great tools to help students be successful throughout the day and prepare for their classes, students shared that they carry plenty of other things with them all week.
Sophomore Emily Ortiz says, “As this being my second year in high school, I have noticed I need plenty of products with me in my bag throughout the day.” Ortiz says she carries not just pens, pencils, notebooks, etc., but also, “mascara, Polar Ice Extra gum, Aquaphor, a hair brush, my pink Stanley, perfume, and some colorful putty.” All of these items vary in importance, but they all come together in a helpful way throughout students’ school days.
In addition, Izzo also discusses her snack stash, “I usually have some granola bars, and pretzels to snack on during classes. I also always make sure I share with my friends when they need it so we are all fueled each period.” Therefore, as well as school supplies and hygiene products being useful, snacks are some students’ necessities day to day.
These items are very helpful for students at Foran to have with them in their bags to keep up with their hygiene, appearance, and even their focus.
Senior Skylar Hacker states, “I like having some of my home products at school and find them useful throughout the day especially now that the colder seasons are coming up. I always make sure I have some vanilla lotion, as well as a Summer Fridays lip butter to keep myself moisturized during school hours.”
Foran students find that their backpack is not just a necessity to carry their school supplies, but something to help them survive the school day. Whether it’s full of school supplies or just a few snacks, it’s all about making it through the day with everything you need. So, what’s in your backpack? It is probably a mix of essentials and chaos, just like high school itself.
