When entering the new year there are things that people like to improve themselves on, whether it’s changing their mindset, working on spending more time with friends, making more plans for their self-enjoyment, etc.
For improving mental health or mindset, people do this to have the “fresh start” effect. It sends the message to people that the New Year provides a physiological clean slate. To have better mental health and a mindset you should take into consideration these points; surround yourself with positivity, clarify your priorities, celebrate progress, reflect on achievements, and get outside your comfort zone. Those are the few points of at least 19 that can help you. Surrounding yourself with positivity can uplift your mood constantly, it helps with your well-being and thought process unlike being around negative things.
Clarifying your priorities:
Clarifying your priorities can make you happy with yourself, doing this means that you are prioritizing what you mentally need or what you like or want to do. It can also improve your mood since you’re doing something you like. Celebrating progress and reflecting on achievements are good, this is because most people make their achievements seem smaller than they actually might be or they don’t celebrate what is a big accomplishment for them because to others it might not mean much. When you reflect on your achievements it can make better use for the future, it boosts your confidence and helps you motivate yourself to carry on, and celebrating that is always a good thing. Finally, getting outside your comfort zone is a natural thing that most people do to help themselves find new things, it could help you find new things to enjoy or new things to do with others all together.
Organization and planning:
Organization and planning is something that people struggle with more than you’d think, this is either from overwhelming themselves with things they’ve done which is due to poor organization, and can also cause bad moods from always doing something and not getting a break. To get better at organizing plans you need to improve your time management skills. This helps lift stress off of yourself and can increase your focus. Other things to help with organizing and planning are making lists, which helps you take on one thing at a time, and setting time estimates, that way you know how long something might take before you can plan something else for yourself or with others that take up that time unexpectedly and lastly sorting out what you don’t need to be doing if your schedule is already overwhelming or packed.

Spending time with others:
Getting better at spending time with others can be hard for some people, this could be because of having trouble with going out because of money or because of disagreements about what they would like to do since people have different interests. Communication is an important factor in spending time with others. Communication allows you and whoever you’re hanging out with to talk about how you can both factor in what you guys like to do and see when this will take place or how long. This also improves relationships with others which is super important in the social spector in your life. Some ideas for what spending time with others can look like can be, game nights, walks, having dinner whether it’s home-cooked or take out or dining, or reading together if you both like to read or bookshop.
Utilizing this to help you improve as a person is a great way to begin the new year. Especially if you’re the kind of person who self-critiques or is always trying to improve yourself and what you surround yourself with.
