On Saturday, April 25th hundreds of people from the Milford community gathered at Jonathan Law High School to celebrate Maren Sanchez’s wonderful life that was taken awfully too soon. April 25th was exactly one year since the whole tragedy happened, and such a lovely event was held to honor her. In the morning at 9:30 a 5k was sponsored by Milford Road Runners. This was a great way to raise money and it allowed people from all over to enter the race and run together as a community for Maren. Many Foran students and parents ran the event including the Foran Girls’ Lacrosse Team. Then at 10 the field transformed into huge upbeat event. The event consisted of food trucks, bouncy houses, live music and tents with various activities or gifts, many raffles, a kickball tournament, dunk tank, various bands and a Mural Street Art Competition.
Most importantly this event really embodied Maren and allowed people to cherish her life on this day. The event let people feel uplifted on a day they typically might not. The weather was beautiful and the event lead to lots of smiles and good times. It allowed people from all over Milford to honor such an extraordinary girl’ life. Money was raised at this event for the Maren Sanchez Memorial Scholarship Fund. The scholarship will be given to graduating seniors from Jonathan Law High School. Peace, love, and music from Maren was such a beautiful event held and really brought the community together to celebrate an amazing person.
