The Masters has been a tradition unlike any other since 1934. Augusta National’s iconic scenery has pleased the eye of many golf fans throughout the world. Many legends in this tournament have been awarded the noble prize of the green jacket.
Legends such as Tiger Woods, Scottie Scheffler, Arnold Palmer, and Jack Nicklaus have all donned the green jacket and left their mark in Masters history.
Augusta National Golf Club, in Augusta, Georgia, is home to the tournament. It differs from all other golf tournaments during the season because of iconic holes such as Amen Corner, and the walk up the 18th hole on Sunday.
Junior Brogan Casey states, “It’s one of the most exclusive golf clubs in the world. Membership is invitation only and includes former presidents and golf legends.
Back in 1934, from March 22-25, the first running of The Masters took place at Augusta National. Horton Smith won the first Masters with a score of 284, with Craig Wood (285) and Pul Runyans (286) as the runners-up.
Master’s tickets are nearly impossible to get. Fans get put into a lottery, and if their ticket is drawn, they are able to go. However, the lottery has an incredibly low chance of winning at around 1%. According to statistics, tickets average around $150 a person but sell for over $2000 on the secondary market.
Foran Golf captain Caden Kaminski states, “There is a very high demand because all of the best golfers in the world are competing against each other. Also, the annual ticket lottery has very low odds of success.”
When at the tournament, fans can go into the concessions stand and purchase food. Uniquely, the prices of concessions haven’t changed since the 1930s, ignoring the inflation that has occurred since.
Junior Cooper Candido states, “It is a way to make the tournament feel timeless and accessible to anyone.”

This year will mark the 91st playing of the historic tournament at Augusta. The votes predict Rory McIlroy (16.2% via BetMGM) and Scottie Scheffler (13.2% via BetMGM) to finish top two at Augusta.
The tournament will last from April 10-13, 2025, being streamed on Paramount+ and televised on ESPN. Coverage will begin Thursday April 10 at 3 p.m.
