For the past two and a half decades, Red Hall has been filled with leadership, faith, companionship, and optimism, all coming from one room, 207, the home of Mr. Austin Cesare.
As head of the history/social studies department, Cesare displays passionate teaching through various advanced placement and honors courses. Many students admire his unique and astounding teaching style, which makes him stand out throughout the building.
Senior Joe Lahav, a former AP United States History student, says, “he helped me strengthen my writing skills for the AP Exam. For the Long Essay Questions (LEQs) and Document-Based Questions (DBQs), he provided helpful information and examples for how to write the perfect response.”
Beyond the classroom, Cesare maintains his impact through Connecticut politics. On the Hamden Board of Education, Cesare was chairman of the Curriculum Committee and was a member of the finance committee. In addition, he served five terms on the Legislative Council and previously held a board position for six years.
Cesare says, “I was involved in 16 years of town council and a Board of Education member. I made sure budgets were funded adequately and made sure the curriculum was good enough for the kids.”
At Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT, Cesare is a professor of American History, teaching many students.
Cesare adds, “I teach as a professor at Sacred Heart University, teaching American History for the past 13 years.”
His coworkers approve of his teaching abilities in a good way. Many faculty members of the history department look up to Cesare and admire him.
Dean of Students/Psychology teacher Mr. Todd Williams says, “He is incredibly organized and passionate about being the Department Head of Social Studies here at Foran. I look up to Mr. Cesare in his knowledge and insight into how local, state & national government works.”
Beyond teaching, Cesare loves his job. He believes that it’s all about the kids and takes the message from his mom and great aunt.
Cesare adds, “My number one goal in teaching was to always be here for the kids. I’ve always enjoyed the classroom and making sure my students have the best year possible.”
Cesare will always keep diffusing his positive leadership, faith, companionship, and optimism, and he will continue to “Cese The Day.”
