Matcha, bagels, and coffee pails—that’s what the Drift Cafe has to offer. Come and visit on Wednesday through Sunday from 8 am to 12 pm.
The Drift Cafe is a brand new pop-up cafe truck run by two locals, Ben Bonessi and Griffin Gerardi. The cafe is based in Milford, CT, with its exact location dependent on the day. Their business has been booming, and customers have been leaving positive reviews at each location.
“The habanero bacon bagel was top-notch,” claims one local. “It’s really nice to sit down by the beach and enjoy the food with a view,” another local customer says.
Bonessi and Gerardi have both been in the food industry for five years, which they spent working at a brunch spot in Westport, Connecticut. They found a passion in the cafe business and decided to start something that solely belonged to them.
“We decided it was time to take a leap and do something of our own,” Gerardi states. “We initially looked at a couple of different commercial properties in our hometown of Milford, but decided to keep it small and do the mobile truck, the Drift Cafe.”

Athletic director Jeff Raucci recently paid a visit to the Drift Cafe.
“The black coffee was strong, which I loved. I also got an everything bagel with cream cheese, and it was delicious. I know both of the owners because they went to school with me, although they were a few years younger. They’re very good people who work hard, and really want to give people a good experience,” Raucci states.
This movable cafe has a variety of morning foods. Their menu is simple, but with delicious twists. For breakfast, one can opt for a coffee pail paired with a bagel, with a choice of flavor and cream cheese. Or if one’s sweet tooth is acting up, grab some waffles with a pail of matcha.
Bonessi and Gerardi have roots right here in Milford. The two graduated from Foran High School in 2014, explaining why they chose to start up a business here.
The Drift Cafe is quickly becoming a new fan favorite, but Bonessi and Gerardi aren’t settled just yet.
Gerardi highlights, “Our goals for the future of the business are to eventually shift out of the trailer and move to a brick and mortar location, with full cafe and food offerings.”
The Drift Cafe is thriving, and there’s more to come in the future, so be prepared.
