Three friends with a strong passion for food and community are bringing their dreams to life with R&M Cutlets. Owners Matt Nittoly, Ryan Trevathan, and Mike Hazard come together to bring a new style of deli to Milford, CT.
The deli is located at 575 New Haven Ave. and is opening soon. Many members of the community are excited because it offers another convenient spot to grab a quick bite before a busy day of classes, sports, or work.
Junior Matt Martin says, “I’m definitely looking forward to the opening of R&M Cutlets.”
Trevathan, who also owns The Plate in Milford, is a chef and restaurateur by trade. Nittoly, on the other hand, attended culinary school right out of college in the late 90s. Early in Nittoly’s culinary career, he worked at numerous bars, restaurants, and country clubs before becoming a full-time educator.
Nittoly states, “It’s been a lifelong dream to own a deli with an authentic Italian Flair. The location and partnership opportunity were all perfect timing.”
After many years in the works, the dream became a reality for R&M Cutlets.
By no means is opening a deli easy; it takes time to get all of the correct certificates and loads of commitment from all three owners.
Nittoly says, “We want to focus on details and avoid cutting any corners to make sure this is the best authentic Italian deli in town.”
After many months of trying to get all the pieces to fall into place, November seems to be the time when they will have everything aligned to open.
Employee Brooklyn Nittoly, daughter of owner Matt Nittoly, states, “I’m super excited to get to play a role in being part of this new beginning for my family.”
Nittoly and M. Nittoly are looking forward to the growth of R&M Cutlets.
The variety of sandwiches pleases all, coming with unique names and tastes.
Nittoly states, “Our sandwich names are inspired by the people, movies, and TV shows, and culture that shaped us growing up, mainly Italian-American things that made us laugh, gather, and feel at home. Each name carries a bit of nostalgia, a nod to family, and a piece of the stories that continue to inspire us today.”
R&M Cutlets is more than just a new deli; it’s a dream come true for three friends who love food and want to bring the community together with great Italian sandwiches.
