Winter sports are right around the corner at Foran High School, including the tryouts for the gymnastics team. This year they are looking forward to having many new incoming freshman trying out to expand their team. The head coach of many years retired last season and the team is looking forward to their prior assistant coach, Dina Sklanka, becoming the head coach, and their new assistant, Kyra. Umbreit. Gianna Cruciani is the only captain this season and states, “We will miss our old coach Tracy, but it’s exciting to get new coaches and see how they’ll run the team. We are looking forward to many very good gymnasts trying out this season and I can’t wait for all the meets, bonding as a team, and competing with my friends.” The girls are prepared to work hard this season to be able to crush the competition. The team is looking forward to practicing on their newly aligned equipment which was evaluated this summer, and can’t wait to get back into the practices and meets. Many of the girls are already back in their own gyms preparing for the competition season and perfecting their routines. Incoming freshman, Samantha Lambert, plans on trying out for the team this year after having the sport be apart of her life for the past 12 years. She states, “I am looking forward to being apart of the team and meeting new people. I am very nervous, but I love the sport so much so I am very excited.” The team has a very welcoming attitude and they are all extremely excited to bond with the new girls and overall grow as a team.
