Current construction for the Connecticut Post Mall expansion promises to bring many new jobs and activities to Milford.
The CT Post Mall has been around in Milford for nearly six decades. It is the largest mall in Connecticut to date, with three stories and over 150 stores, employing hundreds of Milford and non-Milford residents. By 2019, there will be three new stores there.
Patiently waiting the arrival of Dave and Buster’s, Boscov’s, and Muse Paintbar, the CT Post Mall is eager to liven up the town and bring opportunities for job-seeking students as well as qualified residents with this expansion.
Although not the largest addition, at 35,000-square-feet, Dave & Buster’s will bring about 200 jobs to the city, and many more customers to go with it. Kelly Frantz, the mall’s relatively new marketing director, was able to provide some insight about the expansion.
Frantz states, “[The] restaurant, arcade, and bar will…feature a chef-crafted menu,… hundreds of the latest arcade games and a state-of-the-art D&B Sports…[and] multiple private event spaces…” With these special components, she hopes to see an increase in the shopper length of stay at the mall.
Even students from Foran are excited for the new expansion, as junior, Will Phelan, states, “I’m excited for the Dave and Busters because we don’t have one near Milford and the concept of playing games and eating seems fun and exciting.”
With no mall in surrounding cities like New Haven, West Haven, Orange and Stratford, The CT Post Mall in Milford brings in plenty of customers from other cities. Because of this, the expansion will benefit more than just Milford residents.
For example, Boscov’s, a huge department store selling “brand-name merchandise…home furnishings, toys, cosmetics, [and] small appliances….” according to Frantz, will be replacing the old JCPenney space. At 200,000-square-feet, it will take up two floors and bring around 300 jobs to the mall. This would be beneficial to at least a few of the 400+ junior and senior students in Foran alone looking for work, not to mention the many other upperclassmen in surrounding high schools also job-searching.
Junior and New Haven ECA student, Bela Meade, shares her thoughts about the mall expansion. “I think the expansion in the Milford Mall is great! New stores draw in more customers and give people more jobs, especially kids my age. Being an ECA student, I think the new paintbar will be a really cool way to bring art into the community.”
Muse Paintbar, although coming a few months later than the other attractions, will nonetheless be warmly welcomed. Frantz also says, “Muse is perfect for all ages…It will bring a brand new and unique element to our center that our shoppers will enjoy.”
She’s not the only one with good things to say. The mall’s instagram account, @connecticutpostmall, states, “@Muse_Paintbar is the ideal destination for celebrations, private parties, a night out, or a family experience. We can’t wait to share more with you!”
