How to increase festivity in your community this season.

When the weather starts getting colder, we start craving more holiday spirit around us. Each year the city of MIlford has many holiday festivities to help get the community in the celebratory spirit. Many people attend the festivities including the students of local schools. Foran High School students give their opinion on their favorite holiday event.
One of the many events that are helds includes an annual tree lighting, lamplight stroll on the Milford green, and the giving tree at Foran that students provide gifts to families at the Milford Family Resource Center.
Juniors Emily Wheaton and Emma Nowlin both go to the annual Tree Lighting and part take in the giving tree at Foran. They enjoy these events because it gets them in the festive mood and it is helpful to the community.
Senior, Owen Schmidt, celebrates Christmas and Hanukkah in his family. He enjoys celebrating both holidays because it gives him a better perspective on the different cultures. Every year on the day of the tree lighting, he and his family goes and finds a Christmas tree together. After they find the perfect tree and bring it home together they go to the tree lighting as a family.

Senior, Janella Briones, also goes to the tree lighting. But her favorite holiday event is the “Trees of Hope”. This is an event that she does with the Foran orchestra. She enjoys this celebration because it supports the Ronald McDonald Foundation, that raise funds for the children and families staying at Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut and it gets people in the jolly spirit.
On the other hand, senior Max Saltus, does not go to any holiday celebrations in the season, but he still enjoys celebrating Christmas with his family.
Also in the outer more communities, there are many festivities like the annual “Fantasy of Lights” that takes place in New Haven, the “Winterfest at Bushnell Park” in Hartford, and “The Nutcracker” performed by the New England Ballet Company, held in Bridgeport.
These events are held in to get the citizens of Connecticut to become more festive and jolly in the winter season.
