Many new drivers are taking on the challenges of driving in the snow during this season.
Junior at Foran, Emily Wheaton who has just recently gotten her license and has already had a scare, “I slid on a puddle of black ice and luckily I caught myself”. She went on to add “As a new driver it made me scared to drive further distances in that type of weather.”
Lauren Nieman, junior at Foran, who got her license on the 17th of October in 2018, said “I’ve had trouble driving in snow and ice before, once I was taking a turn and my car slipped and I felt like I was going to lose control. It can be scary as a new driver especially if there is snow and black ice”.
Senior, Tiffani Lara, said “It’s a little scary, but I avoid driving when it’s snowing a lot, and I feel safer when driving a 4×4”.
Fox News took recommendations offered from AAA concerning driving in the snow, such as one thing they said was “Drive slowly. Everything takes longer on snow-covered roads. Accelerating, stopping, turning – nothing happens as quickly as on dry pavement. Give yourself time to maneuver by driving slowly”.
Students who began driving recently have had to face driving in the snow now that it is winter.
