This past Saturday, May 18, 2019, after the Dash for Danni the Foran Softball team held the Inaugural Heart of Lion Wiffle Ball Bash. The event started at 12pm and carried throughout the afternoon. There was music, raffles, bake sale, burgers, hot dogs and more. A total of 20 teams entered to play in the event.
The tournament brought together the Milford Community. Many Foran Students, teams, and Alumni attended. The proceeds are going towards the Danni Kemp Cancer Support Fund. Kemp was a three sport athlete at Foran, playing for the softball team. Kemp sadly passed away of a rare brain tumor in 2017 at the age of 19
There were two divisions minors, for the younger kids, and majors, for those 15 and older. The games were 30 minutes each or 5 innings long. The first round was a pool play, and then those with the best records moved forward.
In the end, Team Lanese won for the Major Division and Bringing the Heat for the Minor’s Division. Other awards given were for the loudest fan, best costume, and best team name.
The tournament was a huge success and will hopefully become a tradition in the Foran community.
