School opened for the 2014-15 school year at Foran High School on Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Students and staff are looking forward to a productive year, including a number of community events that are planned at the school.
One of the first community events that will be based here is the Annual Relay for Life, which is often held at Jonathan Law High School but is planned at Foran this year. The Relay for Life includes participants camping out around the track and maintaining a team walk around the track throughout the event. Funds raised go toward cancer research.
Also coming up is a community run that raises money for clean water for remote African villages. The run is scheduled for Sept. 20 and will start at Foran and end at Foran High School. A local couple started the annual fund-raiser after learning about the need for clean water in these remote areas.
