Fire Headquarters: Station 1 is located on 72 New Haven Avenue in Milford, CT.

The Milford Fire Department currently has four active fire departments. These four consist of Fire Headquarters (Station 1), East Side Fire Station (Station 5), North Side Fire Station (Station 7), and West Side Fire Station (Station 8).

Headquarters is located on 72 New Haven Avenue in Milford, CT. This station is also known as the Milford Central Fire Station which was built in 1928 to 1929.

The East Side Fire Station is located on 980 New Haven Avenue in Milford, CT. This station being the newest firehouse was built from 2010 to 2011.

The North Side Fire Station is located on 55 Wheelers Farm Road in Milford, CT. This station is also known as the First District Fire House that was built in 1969. Also, this fire station displays a piece of the World Trade Center in memory of the 2,752 victims from September 11, 2001.

The West Side Fire Station is located on 349 Naugatuck Avenue in Milford, CT. This station is also known as the West Shore Fire station and is located on the farther side of town and was built in 1997.

The Milford Fire Company first started in May 1838 when it held its first gathering where each man agreed to donate 0.75 cents toward the purchase of their first fire engine. These men met in each other’s homes to strive for a firefighting unit in order to protect the public and the structures. Their dedication eventually led them to receive a small building behind Town Hall to use by 1840 which became Milford’s first ever fire headquarters. Today, on the east side of Town Hall there is a small plaque on a rock that commemorates the fire department from 1838 to 1938.

Since that first building in 1838, the Milford Fire Department has evolved immensely to four stations, 113 fire personnel, eight fire dispatchers, and five civilian personnel led by Fire Chief Douglas A. Edo.
