Experimenting with Mannequin: Dr. Dobuzinsky helps Nayab Mallik learn to read a heartbeat, October 10, 2022.

What used to be the Medical Career and Professions Club is now called the Health Professions Club. This club is a great way for students interested in joining the health field to get familiarized with others that share their interests so that they can learn from each other while gaining more knowledge in the medical field.

A 2019 Mane Street Mirror article by Kayla Jurzk states, “Involvement in the club has benefits which include being a great resume builder for future colleges, or jobs.”

This has continued into the 2022 school year as students involved in the club get to have hands-on experiences working with medical equipment and interacting with nurses.

Sophomore social media coordinator Isabella Palisisays, “With Dr. Ashley Dobuzinsky as the advisor now, we’re gonna get a lot more medical insight in terms of the field and careers and how specifically to go about those careers.”

As of now, there have not been any field trips planned besides a trip to the medical terminology course Dr. Dobuzinsky is in. However, she has other plans in mind to get experience for the students.

Dr. Dobuzinsky states, “My plans for the future of this club are to engage the community whether that’s foran families or members of the healthcare community in Milford to come in and meet the students to share their knowledge and expertise.”

Involvement in Health Professions Club also means more opportunities to connect with the Milford community and to learn more about what knowledge health providers can offer students, and the questions they can answer for them.

According to senior and vice president Nayab Mallik, “The club plans on running holiday fundraisers and getting students some volunteer hours in hospitals.”

This is a great opportunity for students to get the volunteer hours they need to graduate while also doing what they are interested in within the career they would like to pursue.

Mallik also states, “Being vice president helped me understand the pathway I want to follow for college a little more and increased my curiosity and fascination of pursuing a career in the medical field.”

Participating in the club helps aspiring students get actual experience doing activities that will help them in the upcoming years when they decide to major in the medical field.
