From Milford’s annual tree lighting to holiday celebrations, there are many ways to kick off the holiday season. With countless students and staff here at Foran. How does each individual person celebrate the holidays?
History teacher and swim coach Mr. Brian Dooling says one of his traditions is, “Every year my friends and I gather right before Christmas to have dinner and celebrate the holiday.”
This has been going on for a couple of years. Looking back, Dooling remembers how this tradition was created.
“This started when we were in college when we always met on December 23, the eve of Christmas Eve. So we began to call it Christmas Eve Eve,” Dooling explains.
He also mentions that this has become more special in the last couple of years. Now that they are all adults, they don’t see each other as often making, the holiday dinner more special.
As the winter chill sets in, it’s the time of the year holiday traditions shine. From traditions passed through generations to new creative ones, there are tons of ways to celebrate the holiday season.
People can make the argument that the traditions that take place during this time of year can make the holidays. There are many things families and friends do to celebrate the magical season, including putting up lights, playing games, watching movies, making a certain meal, and more. All students and staff celebrate the holidays in their own unique way
Sophomore Michael Doyle has a similar theme, saying “We go to our grandparent’s house for Christmas Eve dinner, and then do a grab bag.”
Doyle touched on how this started, stating that his grandma suggested it. Then after that year it became a tradition in the Doyle family.
The holiday season provides an opportunity for family and friends to relax and enjoy spending time with people they love and to make new memories and look back on old ones. It is so valuable to spend time with family and friends during this season. It can be one of the most important parts of a tradition
This is no exception to sophomore Audrey Judge. Judge has a tradition that’s passed though her family and goes to the youngest family member every year.
Judge states, “On Christmas Eve the youngest family member gets to pass out the gifts to the family. It’s such a cute and unique tradition.”
The many activities in the community is what makes the holidays fun and so great. Everyone’s tradition is different in its own way but still all have similarities and still create memories. Although it may be hard to add a new tradition, the holidays are always a good time to try a new one .
