Every year, as school begins and leaves fall, there’s a rise in some new and old fan-favorite trends. Whether it be the popular taste of pumpkin in the form of a pastry or a trendy sweater, here’s a guide to fall trends all around Foran.
Fashion:
Trends come and go, especially within the fashion community. This fall, students have chosen to wear popular items such as flared leggings, and bundle up with bomber jackets, uggs, and low-rise jeans. While all these items are stylish, they still allow one to stay warm and cozy as it starts to get colder. Colors that are currently trending include orange, brown, white, dark green, and dark red, all the tones needed to have the complete fall wardrobe.
Treats:
Cake pops, apple cider donuts, and pumpkin pie galore. All fan-favorites snacks are back in stock for fall ‘24. Launching their fall menus, Starbucks and Dunkin’ compete every year with having the perfect bite for the cold weather. Junior Isabella Lau says that her go-to Starbucks order is the “baked apple croissant.” Making a comeback to both menus are seasonal pumpkins, seen in the form of cream cheese muffins, munchkins, and croissants. Starbucks has a new cake pop, seen trending around Tiktok in the last month, the Raccoon Cake Pop has been a hit with buyers.
Drinks:
Similar to the battle for the tastiest treat, companies fight to have the perfect sip for this sweater weather. Included in their fall menus this year, Starbucks has dropped a couple of new drinks and brought back customers favorites. They’ve launched the new Iced Apple Crisp Cream Chai, a Salted Caramel Cookie Matcha, and a Pecan Crunch Oat Milk Latte to be “your comforting companion for a crisp fall day.” according to the company.
Whether one is looking for a shot of espresso to keep them awake during the cold days, or for a chilled milk drink to enjoy with a good book, Starbucks and Dunkin can solve the cravings.
Lifestyle (Outdoor Activities):
This fall, people are opting for a nature-aligned lifestyle; preferring to go for daily walks, hikes, and short runs. As the leaves fall, the cool air and the crisp smell of autumn can be very therapeutic. According to Medical West Hospital, a stroll with a nice breeze can provide several benefits: a sense of self-reliance, alleviate stress and anxiety, and better focus and productivity. A study by Stanford University found that daily outdoor exercise also tends to decrease activity in a region of the brain often associated with depression.
