Before the fall season began, coaches had a very important decision to make: choosing captains. There are several qualities that coaches look for when it comes to picking individuals to lead the team, whether this be leadership, determination, hard work, etc.. In this piece we will take a look at the 2024 seasons fall sports captains and their input on the upcoming season.
The girls volleyball team captains are seniors Gracie Brooks and Gaby Magnuson.
Brooks shares her excitement for the season by stating, “I want our team to work together and win games as well as make it to the state tournament, and I hope to make memories with my friends for my last year.”
The football team has a total of five captains; Seniors Joey Gagliardi, Jagger Rees, Zach Querioz, Wyatt Shallis and Brandon Marschner. The team is energetic and ready for their upcoming season and is striving for greatness.
Rees states, “It feels good to be a captain and I am glad that I can lead my team on and off the football field.”
Next, the girls swim team captains are seniors Lila Rothbard, Amy Lahav, Isabella Abreu and Erin Morton. The girls have been on a roll this season and hope to continue their winning streak.
Rothbard shares her aspirations for the season, “My goal is to get as many people to states as possible because I want to see my team succeed.”
The girls soccer team consists of captains Isabella Salai and Haley Moger. The girls have been working hard and hope to achieve postseason success.
Salai shares her favorite tradition on the team stating, “My favorite tradition is our Halloween practice because each grade chooses a theme and dresses up together and it is great team bonding.”
The boys soccer team has similar goals for the season led by captains Luke Hackett, Riley Young and Tye Haley .
Hackett explains the honor by stating, “The most exciting part about being a captain is the freedom our coach gives us to put things together. It’s exciting to see how we can actually impact the team in how we play and practice.”
Last, the cross country team has been running all summer and striving for success. The girls captains are Adrianna Gonzalez and Alexandria Regan, and boys captains are Alexander Gregory and John Fink.
Regan states, “ I am excited about getting to know all the new freshmen and fostering a new cross country environment this season.”
