Purpose, influence, and opportunity are all the key aspects of a strong education system. From November 18-22, schools around the country celebrate American Education Week.
This week is a time to acknowledge and celebrate public education, as well as to inform the community on accomplishments made by schools.
Foran High School has so many reasons to celebrate American Education Week. Administrator Mrs. Dena Kelly is a big part of what makes the community so strong.
Kelly says, “Being in a school setting around people who are invested in helping each other learn and grow has been extremely rewarding.”.
In the past year, there has been a significant shortage of teachers, which is why educators are being greatly recognized by this week. They help students learn more than anyone, and set them up for success in the future.
Shea Pangu, a student at Foran, emphasizes the impact teachers have on her.
Pangu states, “Ms. Stamidis has been a big help. In AP Lang, she’s taught us about three major ‘pillars of persuasion,’ – Ethos, Pathos, and Logos. Each of these has helped me learn how to become a more impactful writer. In this way, education has made it easier for me to decipher and determine what I want to do in different situations.”
Since teachers have such an influence on students, addressing all they do is valued.
Education sets the foundation for a prosperous student. Foran does this to set students up for after high school.
Faculty member Mrs. Rachel Pangu states, “Education is a powerful tool that can open us up to different views, ways of thinking, and people in general. Our experiences shape who we are and education is a major part of our experiences.”
It is important to ensure that all students have an inclusive and equal education. Every student deserves a quality education, and teachers should earn the recognition they deserve.
