Sledding, snowballs, hot chocolate, and snow angels. Everyone loves it when they have a snow day. As the months go on, snow days may begin to appear, leaving people curious as to what to do with their time off.
Snow days offer an opportunity for students to enjoy indoor and outdoor activities. So far, the Foran community has not had any snow days but has had two delays.
The unpredictability of the weather excites and brings joy to communities, as it provides time off from work and school.
Students at Foran have memorable experiences from when they were little of what they did on a snow day.
One thing that junior Brooke Oliver remembers as a child is, “going sledding with my dad and sister at Matthewson.” This is one of her favorite memories and enjoys spending the day off with her family.
Now that she is older, she still spends time with her family on snow days, now just inside.
“Me and my family watch movies in front of the fireplace on days we are stuck inside,” Oliver explains.
High schoolers can do a variety of things on a snow day, even if it is not outside; whether that be watching movies or starting a new show, playing board games, making hot chocolate, or just spending time with family and friends.
Teachers at Foran also enjoy their snow day. “My daughter is three years old so she is heading into the prime snow days. It was really fun watching her downhill sled for the first time. Snow days are starting to get more fun because I experience it through her eyes,” Emily Lockhart says about her recent snow day.
Many teachers and staff members take advantage of their day off to spend time with their families. Days like this can be extremely memorable, especially for younger children.
Snow days provide a break from school, allowing students and teachers to relax and recharge.
Winter in Milford gives an opportunity to gather with friends and family, or even enjoy time alone.
Whether it’s staying warm inside or enjoying the snow outdoors, members of Foran High School take advantage of a day off from school and enjoy the benefits of a snow day.
