Antonios Aspras is a senior at Joseph A. Foran High School by day and a wrestling phenomenon by night.
Aspras, familiarly known as Tony, started his wrestling career at the ripe age of 12 years old with the Milford Indians Wrestling Club, joining the club because of friends and curiosity about the sport. After joining the game, it wasn’t very long until he broke his wrist during one of his first-ever wrestling practices.
After COVID-19 delayed his comeback in his eighth-grade year, Aspras made a return to the sport in his freshman year of high school.
At the start of the 2022 season, Aspras was very excited to get back into the swing of things, as he looked at wrestling as a new opportunity to be great at something. However, at the end of the first competitive week, tragedy struck during a match. Aspras would receive a hand injury that would cost him the rest of his freshman season. Aspras then spent the rest of his season cheering on his fellow teammates, as well as watching his older sister win her first state championship.
Seeing his older sister succeed lit a fire under him and motivated him to be great.
As soon as he recovered, he went straight to the lab. Aspras attended SouthSide Wrestling Club, a club based out of Bridgeport, CT, that crafts wrestlers into champions of life. He spent his days and nights practicing moves and techniques to make sure he became who he had envisioned in his head.
As his sophomore year rolled in, Aspras was very excited to show the world what he had been working toward during the off-season. Aspras has had a fantastic season with an ending season record at 34-12, a massive difference from his 0-6 freshman season.
But that was just the start. Like last year, Aspras attended the same club in hopes of still becoming the wrestler he wanted to be.
During the spring of his Sophomore year, Aspras traveled all over the State and Country, wrestling to improve and compete against better competition. He visited places such as Virginia Beach, Fargo, ND, and Atlantic City, New Jersey.
After traveling all over the United States, getting better each day, Aspras slowly crafted himself into the man he wanted to be.
Aspras patiently waited for fall to end so he could begin his junior year. Without wasting time, He began climbing the ranks of Connecticut, earning him the # 8 seed in the state.
Stepping into his senior year with full confidence, Aspras has one goal on his mind: State Champion. Aspras wastes no time by going into the season and doing his thing, referring to destroying all of his competition. Aspras would then go on to achieve all of the goals he had in mind. He achieved his 100th win, making him the 19th Member of the 100-win club at Foran, all while going 2nd Team All-Conference and His Dream Goal, Class M State Championship.
