This year, several seniors at Foran are preparing to take the next step in their athletic careers: committing to play at the collegiate level. These student-athletes have put in years of hard work, from early morning practices to the late nights of studying. Now their dedication is paying off.
Committing to a college sport is a major milestone. For many athletes, it shows the countless hours, youth leagues, club programs, travel teams, and off-season training. Behind the scenes, these athletes have had to balance academics, athletics, and personal growth, showing resilience and determination along the way.
Senior Kyle Viesselman has committed to The University of New Haven, where he will continue his baseball career as a catcher for the Chargers. Viesselman’s decision highlights his dedication to the game and the support system that helped him achieve his goal of playing at the college level.
Viesselman states, “Knowing you found the right college is when it feels like home.”
Another senior, Zach Lund, has committed to Springfield University, where he will be wrestling for the Pride. Wrestling requires incredible discipline, and Lund’s commitment is a reflection of years of preparation.
Joining the list of committed athletes is senior Kylie Posey, who has chosen to continue her athletic and academic journey at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. As a midfielder, Posey is excited about both the competitive lacrosse program and the academic opportunities awaiting her.
Posey explains, “It has a great engineering program and nice facilities.”
These commitments showcase not only individual achievements but also the strength of Foran’s athletic community. Coaches, teammates, and families have all played vital roles in shaping these athletes into who they are today.
Senior Abby Corris will continue her athletic and academic career at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU). A pitcher who has been playing the game since the age of nine, Corris is excited to join the CCSU softball program, compete alongside her new teammates, and be able to meet her new roommates.
The final senior, Josh Sanner, will pursue his athletic and academic career at Purchase College in New York, where he will be pitching for the Panthers.
As these seniors prepare to enter their next chapter, they serve as role models for younger student athletes who dream of one day following in their footsteps. Their journey shows that with dedication, support, and passion, the path from high school fields and courts to college arenas is possible.
