Long-Lasting Landmarks of Milford

Historic Buildings of a Historic City

Milford is riddled with history, with numerous historic landmarks throughout the city that provide residents and visitors with a snapshot of the past. Milford’s history dates back to its founding in 1639, making it the sixth oldest town in Connecticut.

The buildings and architecture around the city reflect this history as many structures date back over 300 years. Milford is home to the second oldest building in Connecticut, the Thomas Buckingham House, still standing over 350 years after it was built in 1671.

Many houses and buildings around the city are protected by the local government and preserved as a part of history, including three houses that are a part of the Milford Historical Society. These houses are protected by the society and serve as a museum to educate the public about the city’s rich history.
