With graduation quickly approaching, many seniors now take the time to reflect back on their high school experience and what joys their school supplied them with. Between new friendships, student-teacher bonds, and countless academic, athletic, and extracurricular opportunities, Foran has provided its students plenty to be thankful for.
Many students appreciate everything the faculty does for them. 27 out of 53 responses communicate appreciation for teachers or other faculty. Karthikeya Lakoji is thankful to his former computer science teacher, Mr. David Spinetti, for writing his recommendation letter and being an influential figure throughout his time at Foran.
“I honestly am grateful to have someone propel me to study computer science in the future,” Lakoji expresses.
Physics teacher Mr. Alan Stern is beloved by many in the senior class. Zackary Israelite recalls a time when Stern allowed him to buy concert tickets during his class. Isaac Fernandez expresses his gratitude, explaining that Stern is always there for his students.
“Whether I need somewhere to hang out or someone to talk to, he’s there for me. He never hesitates to help, sometimes even sharing his lunch when I stop by,” states Fernandez, “I hope everyone has a Mr. Stern in their lives.”
Foran provides countless opportunities to be involved in the school community, playing sports being just one avenue of exploring one’s interests. Mason Hallstrom reflects on what being a part of the wrestling team meant to him.
“It was always a blast and there was never a dull moment with that group,” Hallstrom states, “They are like a second family to me.” Several of Hallstrom’s classmates share a similar sentiment, with 11 of the 53 responses expressing gratitude towards the respondent’s cherished clubs and organizations.
Aside from opportunities to participate in the school community, Foran has also facilitated many friendships that have acted as crucial support systems in various facets of life, both on and off Foran’s campus.
Among the 19 responses recognizing friends and family, Olivia Jones shares, “Some of the people I have met have become my biggest support system and favorite people.”
The Foran community has even allowed for close-knit inter-grade friendships. Cameron Lefebvre gives thanks to junior Devon Hines, someone she believes she never would have met if not for the school
“She has become my best friend since meeting her and leaving her is going to be extremely difficult,” Lefebvre divulges.
Alongside the friendly atmosphere the school enables, Foran serves its academic purpose by preparing its students for the world they graduate into. Grace Mrisch professes her appreciation for Foran’s “academic rigor” and how she feels it will provide her with an upper hand in her future.
“Meeting higher requirements for grades and transcripts, such as four math classes, helps a Foran student stand out higher than other candidates for colleges and jobs,” Mrisch asserts.
Foran truly stands as a unique school, forging bonds and offering an encouraging environment. Senior Sai Ankith Gantasala enrolled at the end of her junior year. She describes Foran to be different from the other schools she has attended in many aspects.
“I wish and hope that every student here is successful and fulfills their dreams and goals in life and I wish every teacher in good health and well-being,” conveys Gantasala. She highlights how supportive teachers, lively classmates, and the friendly community have made her transition to a new school much smoother.
Gantasala states, “I’m just thankful for everything really, especially how I had a wonderful opportunity at a wonderful school.”
