The holiday season is always filled with warm memories and classic sweet treats. Baked goods are always present at a holiday get-together, so spice things up with a new treat this year.
The first treat is Chocolate cupcakes with Peppermint Frosting. These sweet tiny cakes are chocolatey and minty all in one, making it a perfect combination for chocolate lovers. The flavor from the crushed peppermints on top makes some people say they’re dying for a bite. The total baking time is 48 minutes with a serving size of 36.
The second recipe is Brittle. Brittle is a crunchy treat with a toffee-like base with a buttery and nutty flavor. This treat has four different kinds of nuts, adding more of a flavor to it besides the caramel. This will take about an hour and 10 minutes to be fully prepared and can serve up to ten people.
A good treat for chocolate pie lovers is S’mores Pie. This treat is a perfect way to combinepeople’s love for pie and a classic roasted marshmallow you have around the occasional fire pit. It serves about eight people and takes a total of four hours and 45 minutes to assemble, but some would say it’s worth the wait.
An idea for kids are Reindeer Pops. A fun and simple snack with easy preparation is great for children during the holiday season.. Surprised or not, these reindeer are two Ritz crackers being held together by peanut butter and then covered with chocolate and given the main details of a nose (M&M’s), eyes (mini candy eyeballs), and antlers (pretzel sticks).
Gingerbread Sandwich Cookies, a gingerbread shaped cookie that is filled with an orange buttercream and jellied cranberry sauce which makes them come off very sweet. It is also dusted with powdered sugar on top, which is optional. This treat serves 30 people depending on the batch you make and takes about two hours.
To add more creativity to the holiday season you could also make Reese’s Trees, using peanut butter cups and a hershey kiss on top to give the tree-like look. Adding some thin frosting wrapped around them all stacked together, you can add sprinkles and a single star at the top to complete the christmas tree look. This treat uses both the regular and miniature, the time it takes is about 10 minutes. For serving, it depends on how many you make.
Making a classic holiday movie into a sweet treat to eat, you can have Grinch Cookies. This is a sugar cookie colored green with a small decorative red heart sprinkle to represent the grinch and his heart, either still small or growing big.
Last but not least are Candy Cane Cookies. It consists of two different colored doughs, red and white, the colors of a candy cane. Then twisting those two ropes together and curling the top to mimic a real candy cane, you get the candy cane cookie. It can also be topped with powdered sugar or just sprinkled with sparkling sugar. When it comes to serving size, that depends on how many you plan to make of the dough and it takes about 4 hours due to how these cookies have to chill.
Making treats around the holidays is something that most families do to connect or talk over as they enjoy a baked good. Emilia Giannetto, a freshman, says, “Me and my family bake batches of cookies and pies for other people in our family to enjoy around the holidays. We love doing it and it’s a yearly tradition that we always keep.”
