Hey everybody! My name is Khadija Ashfaq, and I am a senior at Foran. This year I am one of the Editors – in – Chief for the Mane Street Mirror. As a third year journalism student, I hope to solidify my writing skills while simultaneously getting better at laying out. Although I do not play any sports, I am involved in a number of clubs. I am an avid Natural Helper and a member of National Honor Society. I am also a member of Student Government and Sci – Lions. Outside of school, I love to draw and listen to music. I am very excited for the different units that we will get to explore in journalism this year.

My goals this year are to be proud of every article I write and to be happy with each paper we release as a whole. In addition to being in Journalism, I am a part of the Natural Helper’s program, I am in National Honor Society, and I am also in the Sci- Lions club. Outside of school I like to hang out with my friends but spend most of my time working at The Sundae House or babysitting. This year I am looking forward to working on the paper in it’s entirety instead of just focusing on my own articles. I also am looking forward to continuing to lay out the pages of our newspaper and interviewing the people at Foran that I do not know.

My name is Shea Phelan I’m a senior and I’m the sports editor for the Mane Street Mirror. My goals for this year in this class is to have better interviewing skills. With being the sports editor, I am involved with swimming and lacrosse. I am a part of the Lion Pride as well as Food to Kids. Outside of school, I like to go driving and hangout with my friends on the weekends. This year, I am looking forward to the workshops we go to at SCSU.

Hey Everyone! My name is Olivia Ouellette, I am currently a senior at Foran in my second year of journalism. This journalism year I am the WEB EDITOR! This year I hope to become a better writer so I can write engaging stories that the Foran community will love to read. This year I am in my fourth year of volleyball, playing on varsity as a DS (back row) this year. I am also invloved in drama club, and french club this year but I am looking to join more as I want to be really involved in my school this year.I am looking forward to this year, being an editor for my last school year is really exciting for me. Hi, I’m Eva Knudsen, a senior here at Foran, and I am the editor for the entertainment page of the newspaper. My goals for journalism this year are to improve my interviewing skills and learning to lay out even better. I play varsity lacrosse and I am apart of LION Club. Outside of school, I work at the YMCA after school program with kids from Mathewson. I’m looking forward to laying out pages this year, especially if we’re doing a photojournalism unit.

I’m Quinn Lofthouse, an editor for the Mane Street Newspaper. For this coming year in journalism I plan on finding real news and exposing the fake news. I take part in several clubs such as Youth and Government, Key Club, and L.I.O.N. Club. Some hobbies I have outside of the academic world are knitting and baking. This year in journalism I’m so excited to switch up the game and eat breakfast this year instead of pizza!

Hi, my name is Nick Barrieau and this is my second year writing for the paper as a staff writer. One goal I have for the upcoming year is to write more about one focused topic, which I can do because I have a column now. I play the trumpet in band where I am the vice president. Outside of school, I work as a counselor at the YMCA after school program and enjoy messing around with technology in my free time. I’m looking forward to writing interesting new articles on mostly fascinating topics. My name is Jake Burwell ands I’m a senior. I’m a Journalism One student so I will be taking the role as a staff writer this year. I am the captain of the Milford Indians Hockey Team. My Name is Malisha Ortiz and I’m a senior. I am journalism one and my position is staff writer.My personal goals for journalism this year is is to become a better writer and gain more interview skills.I want to be able to write about topics that interest everyone not just a specific group of people,and have the best interviews so I can have the best information I can possible get so I can write article that intrigues everyone. I do not do any sports due to the fact I work but If I were to do a sport I would do track.I’m also not in any clubs either they seem interesting but my scheduling is too chaotic to fit any clubs in.The hobbies I have outside of school is drawing and painting those are the most relaxing for me because I feel really tired after a long day at school so it really helps me relax and become stress free.I am looking forward in this class this year is being able to put more of my input about fashion and write more articles that I know many of my peers would love to read. My name is Anna Jani. I’m a sophomore and a staff writer for Mane Street Mirror. Because I’m looking to major in communications in college and to have a career in public relations for business, my goal for this year in journalism is to help prepare myself to enter into the field of communications in a few years, considering journalism falls under the communications category of careers. Up until two years ago, I played soccer on a travel team for Milford. Now, I run Cross Country on Foran’s girls’ team. I also ran a few sprinting events for Foran’s indoor track team last season. I do Key Club, Social Awareness Club, Food for Kids, DECA club, World Culture Club, among others. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I’m learning both Korean and Spanish, so if I have time, I’ll usually practice one of the two. I also volunteer at local places, such as the Milford Historical Society. I like to draw in a cartoon-like style and listen to hip hop/rap, my favorite rappers being Geeks, Seventeen’s Hip-Hop Team, and Monsta X. I try to exercise outside of school in addition to Cross Country practices, too.
This year, I’m looking forward to writing articles and interviewing people for Mane Street Mirror, plus eating delicious food once we’ve finished each monthly edition. My name is Robby Tierstein. I am in my senior year and I am currently a staff writer. This is my first year of journalism and my goals for this year are handing assignments in on time, being able to write about more complex topics, and overall having a fun and enjoyable experience. I don’t play any sports in school but I practice a martial art called Kempo as an after school activity since February this year. Prior to Kempo, I practiced Taekwondo for about eleven years. I am part of smash club, a video game club, since my sophomore year at Foran. Besides martial arts, other hobbies I like doing outside of school are listening to music, playing video games, and going on my computer. I also like playing drums and I began playing in the fifth grade. I also started learning guitar since last semester. One activity I enjoy doing in journalism is editing other people’s articles. I am also looking forward to interviewing other people because although I haven’t really interviewed many times before, it seems interesting to hear someone else’s opinion on a particular issue or topic.
