With Jeff Raucci’s first year as athletic director under his belt, he aims to represent all sports and ensure a rewarding athletic program within Foran. From fall to spring, Raucci works hard to keep every sport running smoothly and at its best.
Senior Wrestling Captain Zach Lund remarks, “Our athletic programs have become better, better athletics are shown with our two state championships from different teams in the same year (Softball and Wrestling).”
A large part of his job is to ensure the quality and availability of various sports programs.
Raucci continued as a teacher after his time at Foran as a student. He then switched to athletic director last sports season after teaching health for 7 years.
Despite the difference between the two jobs, the switch was natural to Raucci, considering he has always been involved in sports.
Throughout Foran, there are many sports that this school has to offer. Raucci encourages students to join these sports because they have many benefits. In Foran, 50% of students participate in a sport.
“I just love sports. I love what sports can offer to students.” Raucci comments.
Foran also hosts an open house for 8th-grade students that showcases the sports Foran has to offer. Raucci believes this is a great opportunity to introduce students to the athletic department. He sees this as a great way for them to build connections and grow.
“I love the work effort that I can see in all student athletes,” says Raucci, who fondly enjoys watching student athletes improve on and off the field.
By fostering a competitive and supportive environment, Raucci believes that Foran’s athletic program can offer countless benefits and opportunities for students.
Raucci’s day consists of preparing for sporting events, paperwork, and scheduling future events – sometimes months in advance. While Raucci has many responsibilities, his favourite part of his job is being able to see his student athletes in school. He truly enjoys the hands-on aspect of the job.

“2 o’clock is when the fun starts,” Raucci states, implying that he loves watching Foran’s various sports teams compete, practice, and grow. By spectating these activities, Raucci aims to support the athletes, coaches, and fans involved in each program.
With his years of experience, Raucci stresses the importance of sports and suggests that kids across Foran try new sports, gaining invaluable knowledge and insights.
