Almost everywhere you go you can see people getting into the holiday spirit. People are starting to decorate and some are spending their time buying gifts for loved ones. Others may be visiting The Magic of Lights and The Fantasy of Lights.

This year many events for the holiday season have been cancelled, but not all hope is lost. The Magic of Lights and The Fantasy of Lights are still open for the 2020 holiday season.

These two events are both Covid-19 friendly, because you never have to leave your car. This is also a great opportunity to spend time with your family and a couple friends during the holiday season.

The Magic of Lights is in Wallingford, Connecticut. This is about a half an hour away from Milford, CT and is located in the Toyota Oakdale Theater.

At this event, you stay in your car and drive right through the holiday lights. You are also able to tune into their radio station, 105.7, to listen to festive music that goes along with their show.

Tickets are only $25 for a standardized vehicle if you order your ticket online. This event is open from November 13,  2020 to January 2, 2021 from 5pm to 10pm.

Magicoflights.com, the event’s main website says, “At every turn, the magical route is overflowing with spectacular light displays that bring your favorite holiday themes and characters to life.” They recommend visiting their show during the weekday because during the weekend the lines get very long.

After visiting the Magic of Lights, Senior Isabella Ribera says, “My favorite part of the lights was feeling like a little kid again. It was very long, but it was so fun to listen to the music and be with my loved one.”

Those who have visited the light show have had positive words to describe the lights after experiencing it. Senior Vincent Buckley says, “My favorite part of the show was definitely the ending where you drive through the tunnel and it’s all lit up.”

Another, similar option is The Fantasy of Lights which is located in New Haven, CT. It is about a 15 minute drive from Milford, CT. This event is open from November 20, 2020 to December 31, 2020 and is held at Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven, CT.

The tickets for this light show event are $10 per car. The money from the tickets sold goes towards supporting the mission for Goodwill of Southern New England, according to https://www.goodwillsne.org/. Their mission is to enhance educational, social and recreational opportunities for people with disabilities.

Many people have been having a hard time trying to find their holiday spirit due to the new stresses that 2020 has brought.  But, Ribera found hers at this event. She says, “It did help me get into the holiday spirit to see all the moving lights, it was as if I stepped out of the world and all the stresses and stepped into a world of fantasy.”
