Taylor Swift’s New Record Breaking Album, Midnights

          During the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, Taylor Swift, award winning singer and songwriter, announced the release date of her tenth studio album “Midnights.” After a long wait with tons of endless nights, the album was finally released to the world on October 21. 

          Midnights is an album consisting of 13 records, all retelling stories of 13 sleepless nights Swift has experienced. 

          Swift also released an extra seven tracks as a surprise to her fans. These songs helped her “find that magic 13,” calling them the “3am tracks.”

          According to nytimes.com, “In its first week out, ‘Midnights’ had the equivalent of 1,578,000 sales in the United States.”

          The album broke records, reaching over 180 million streams on Spotify during its release day alone. 

          Billboard tweeted, “@taylorswift13 scores one of the most historic weeks in @billboardcharts history, as she becomes the first artist to claim the #Hot100’s entire top 10 in a single week.”

          Swift replied with, “10 out of 10 of the Hot 100??? On my 10th album??? I AM IN SHAMBLES.”   

          The artist expresses her feelings being very soft and fragile as she is very grateful and appreciative of everything her fans have done. 

          Many have expressed their thoughts and feelings about the album, saying it was nothing like they were expecting. 

          Sophomore Aiden Stay says, “I had been completely convinced that the album was going to be sad. Nope, not at all. The upbeat and vibrant nature of the music was incredibly shocking.”

          For the past 18 years, Taylor Swift has been active in her career. Starting off at the young age of 17, Swift has broken records and won many awards, such as 11 Grammys and two BRIT Awards.

          After five years, Swift has also revealed she would be going on her next tour; Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.

          On Twitter, Swift described her tour as, “…a journey through the musical eras of my career (past and present!).” 

          Traveling to over 15 states, the tour is running from March to August of next year. Hearing the news, thousands of fans have gone wild, showing how excited and surprised each one is.

          Junior Valeria Juliao says, “When I heard the news I was so shocked! I’ve always wanted to see Taylor live, I can’t wait.”                                        

          The album’s release has been very successful for Taylor and very remarkable for fans all over the world. With leaderboard-filling tracks and sold out tickets all over the world, the Midnights album made a significant impact for the music industry.
