With 17 miles of shore, Milford is known as a coastal town. Despite the natural beauty of the ocean, the colors of the beaches often go ignored. Each beach has its own unique attributes, including color. Color is a perception that arises from the way our eyes detect different wavelengths of light and our brains interpret those signals. According to WedMD, beaches are proven to lift moods and relieve stress. The combination of warm colors from sunsets and cool colors from the ocean create a calming and joyful atmosphere. Due to the location of the beach, the colors at the same time can appear completely different.
From March 20 to April 7 the sky at the beaches were different every single day. Some days, the skies had clouds, while other days were completely clear. We traveled to Gulf Beach, Silver Sands, Walnut Beach, Fort Trumbull, and Morningside to see the different tones in the sky. While a majority of the days were cold, the sun did not fail to produce a variety of colors. However, even on the same days, the sunsets appeared different from each beach.
