With the retirement of former athletic director Anthony Vitelli, Foran welcomes former health teacher, Jeffrey Raucci. With a career spanning over 10 years in teaching and coaching, Raucci brings his experience and a fresh perspective to the athletic program. His commitment to promoting student-athlete development and his innovative approach to sports administration promises to elevate Foran’s athletic department to new heights.
Vitelli states, “He’s going to promote a good atmosphere in the school.” When hiring Raucci, Vitelli ensured he met all the requirements to step in confidently in his new position.
“With the work I did with him over the summer he seems to have a good grasp on it and I think he’s going to do fine.” Vitelli left Foran very comfortable with Raucci filling in his spot.
As an athletic director for a school that values its sports, saying Raucci’s job is easy is far from accurate. Raucci controls everything from schedules to buses to and from events. His approach to sports management and commitment to student development were widely recognized, earning him respect from peers and local media.
Coach Garrett Walker, who has dedicated years to being a security guard and coaching football and baseball at Foran High School, is looking forward to working with Raucci. Known for his deep commitment to his teams and his focus on both athletic excellence and student development, Walker sees Raucci’s appointment as a significant step forward for the school’s athletic programs.
Walker states, “Mr. Raucci is a homegrown pride; he was raised in Milford, he went to school at Foran High School, he’s coached here, he’s taught here and his family has done all of the above as well.”
Walker is particularly optimistic about Raucci’s focus on expanding the school’s athletic program and enhancing the school’s pride. As a coach who has seen the evolution of athletic needs and challenges over the years, Walker feels that Raucci’s vision aligns perfectly with the goals of Foran’s sports teams.
“His connection to our community in Milford and the school itself is gonna drive him to really try to bring our department to the next level,” Walker says.
Raucci has quite the athletic background: he coached for 10 years, six being at Foran. Raucci aims to build on Foran’s strong athletic tradition by implementing initiatives that prioritize both competitive success and the development of student-athletes.
Raucci states, “One of my biggest things is getting student-athletes and teams into the community more, whether that’s through promoting games and events on social media, volunteering our time, and your guys’ time to various events throughout Milford.”
As Raucci settles into his new role, he will undoubtedly face the challenges and opportunities that come with leading Foran’s athletic department with the help of Vitelli.
“I think Mr. Vitelli did an amazing job over the last 2 decades, I got to experience him as an athletic director when I was here through the 4 years,” Raucci states.
Foran High School looks forward to the exciting developments under Raucci’s leadership and the continued success of its athletic programs. Foran wishes him the best of luck in his new position.
