Foran High School has long been known for its strong athletic programs, and the baseball team is no exception. This year, several standout players from Foran are taking their talents to the next level by committing to play in college.
These athletes have shown exceptional skill and passion for the game. Their hard work is paying off as they prepare to join collegiate teams across the country.
One of the most notable players is Senior Captain Jake Jasminski. Jasminski is going to further his career and education at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
Jasminski has been a dominant force on the field in his high school career, being a leader on and off the field. “My main goals for playing in college are to have fun and enjoy the game while doing very well in school,” Jasminski states.
Jasminski is also extremely versatile and athletic on the field. Foran baseball Head Coach Garrett Walker states, “He can play infield, pitch, and I’m sure would do just fine in the outfield if asked.”
Another player who deserves recognition is Senior Captain Vincent Hine. Hine, for the next couple of years, will extend his academic and athletic career at the University of Connecticut Avery Point.
Hine has played baseball since he was two years old and has fallen in love with the game ever since.
When it comes to being on the baseball field, smarts come into play. In order to be a good baseball player, you need to have knowledge and be disciplined.
Walker elaborates, “Vin has a very high baseball IQ, a true gamer with a strong passion for the game. Will be a great fit for any college program.” Walker added that Hine carries both of those traits with pride, and that shows in his work ethic.
His pride over time has worked up to him being part of the varsity line-up and is now a key player for Foran’s baseball team. “All of the hard work I’ve put in will make a big difference for me in college,” Hine states.
Additionally, Senior Chris Yanella will hopefully continue his baseball journey at the University of Tampa as he is talking to their coaches.
Yanella has been a powerhouse on the mound building himself a high powered lefty arm clocking his fastest pitch at 89 MPH.
When asked how his skills would translate to the next level, Yanella said, “I throw hard as a lefty pitcher which definitely helps at the college level. I also have a lot of good movement/spin rate on every pitch making it harder to hit.”
His growth on the bump has been amazing due to his persistent work ethic. “He believes in his ability and doesn’t back down from anyone. He will be a great asset to his college pitching staff,” says Walker.
The Foran community wishes the best of luck to them and anyone else deciding to play a sport in college, and hopes they have an amazing college experience.
