The Avery’s Little Army Foundation has been incorporated into Foran sports through the 2025-2026 season. Girls’ soccer made it a staple to wear their Avery’s Little Army practice shirts, and now wrestling is working with the foundation in its own way.
Each season, the Foran wrestling captains select a service project for the team to participate in throughout the year. Current captains Thomas Mahon and Zach Lund have chosen to work with Avery’s Little Army.
Coach David Esposito states, “The team dedicates itself to becoming important in other people’s lives. By doing these little projects, it makes them aware of their responsibility to be part of the community and serve others, and not just focus on themselves.”
Each wrestler has been assigned a goal of selling five t-shirts with the phrase, “We Wrestle for Avery”. The team hopes to raise an end product of $5,000 for the Avery’s Little Army Foundation.

Avery’s Little Army is a foundation dedicated to Avery Lafferty, a young girl who was taken by pediatric cancer. Her family has created this organization to raise money for pediatric brain cancer research. The Lafferty’s, a family in Milford, has received massive support from Foran families who have come together to support the family and this cause.
“This loss hit very close to the Foran community, which is why it was a no-brainer to pick the Avery’s Little Army Foundation as our wrestling service project this year and raise money for pediatric brain cancer research,” says Mahon.
On February 10, Foran wrestling is acknowledging Avery’s Little Army at their meet versus Daniel Hand. The team will wear special singlets to honor the charity. At the meeting, they will present the foundation with their donation.
Mrs. Lisa Lafferty, mother of Avery Lafferty, has expressed how thankful they are that the Foran community has come together to support this cause.
Lafferty states, “We certainly wish Avery had a chance to attend Foran High School, but our hope is that she is shining down on the students and administration. We are amazed at the student body for taking their own time and energy to help our cause and foundation.”
Donations to Avery’s Little Army go towards pediatric brain cancer research. All money raised by t-shirts and at the Lions wrestling match on February 10 at Foran will go towards the cause.

This is a wonderful gesture! Many thanks to the wrestling team and staff for this tribute to our granddaughter Avery and for your support of Avery’s Little Army.
