Within the walls of Foran, Mr. Gregory Sember teaches the Chemistry and the Earth System course to underclassmen; however, to his students, he is far more than a typical science teacher—he inspires them.
He always encourages his students by offering guidance that will help them throughout life. Through his kindness and welcoming personality, Sember creates a comforting atmosphere in his classroom that students genuinely appreciate.
He consistently encourages his students by offering guidance that extends beyond the classroom and into everyday life. Through his kindness and welcoming personality, Sember creates a comforting classroom environment that students genuinely appreciate.
Sember says, “The connection is more important than chemistry.” This philosophy defines his approach to teaching and shapes the atmosphere he fosters in his classroom.
While Sember values chemistry, he uses it as a lens to teach real-life experiences that easily resonate with his students.
Sember’s own educational journey has greatly influenced the way he teaches and interacts with students. When walking into his classroom, students are immediately met with a sense of comfort, often sparked by his signature song of the day.
Paul Martin, a student of Sember’s, states, “ I feel welcomed and energized when I hear the song of the day when I walk into his class.”
Sember attended the University of Connecticut, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry and later completed a master’s degree in education. As the first person in his family to attend college, Sember understands the challenges students may face as they navigate their futures.
Sember states, “My favorite thing about teaching is being able to share my life experiences with you guys.”
Before beginning his teaching career, Sember worked at Target after college and has also served as a band instructor, highlighting his creative ability to connect with students and the community beyond the science classroom.

Before joining Foran, he taught at Manchester for four years; however, he felt it was not the right environment for him and found Foran to be a better fit.
Sember’s impact extends beyond his students to his colleagues as well.
Fellow science teacher, Mr. John Connors, shares, “We’ve come to work together as very good colleagues, and he brings a lot of youth and enthusiasm to the job.” This energy is evident in Sember’s teaching style and daily interactions.
Through his kindness, enthusiasm, and focus on genuine connection, Sember goes beyond teaching science—he prepares students for life beyond the classroom.
