February is Boost Self- Esteem month. In honor of boost self-esteem month, confidence shapes us in how we see ourselves and the choices we make every day, often without us realizing it.
Having high self-esteem is important because it gives you a more positive outlook on life, provides better relationships, and improves mental health.
“Doing things that make you feel good. So whether that be, for the ladies, like a little bit of makeup or an eyelash lift, makes me feel better in my day-to-day life.” Ms. Meghan Hosking says.
When it comes to going to the gym, getting a new wardrobe, getting your hair done, and just doing the things you enjoy can put you in a positive mindset and lead you to better days.
According to Mind.org, self-esteem improves with being kind to yourself, with things like getting to know yourself; avoid comparing yourself to others, and doing something nice for yourself. You should try tofocus on the positives within your life, building a supportive network, setting a challenge/goal for yourself, and looking after yourself.
These things work differently for everyone and at different times. Some of these things can make you feel calmer while working through difficult symptoms.
Hosking says, “feeling good about yourself on the outside makes you feel better about yourself on the inside and puts you in a better mood.” This goes along with the saying” look good, feel good”.
“It is important to look inward to feel good about yourself, and figure out the things you like and make you happy,” says Mrs. Dove, one of the school counselors here.
This is important because, to boost self-esteem, you first need to know what is good for you and what you need to stay confident and happy.
Everyone is different, and people are fueled by different activities and hobbies, whichis why it is so important to do things you feel are good for you and beneficial to making change within yourself and lifestyle.
